US pressured UK into quick Syria vote

A British cabinet minister has said British Prime Minister David Cameron has been pressured by US officials for a quick vote on Syria intervention.

Kenneth Clarke, who is a Minister without Portfolio, said Cameron’s government was under pressure by Americans for a quick decision on Syria intervention and therefore did not have time to ensure there would be enough support from the parliament.
Clarke blamed the Common’s vote against military intervention in Syria on the trauma of the Iraq War, saying Britons are extremely scared by the experience of that.
Cameron’s plans to launch an offensive against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad were defeated after British MPs rejected the motion by 285 votes to 272 in a Commons vote on Thursday, August 29.
According to a ComRes survey for The Independent, two-thirds of British people oppose the US plans to attack Syria and want the UK to keep out of the escalating conflicts.
