On Tuesday, Hezbollah and the Syrian Arab Army’s 1st Armored Division captured the strategic hill of Tal Hamra after fierce clashes with the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra in the Western Mountains of Al-Zabadani.
According to a military source, Hezbollah and the 1st Armored Division overran Nusra’s positions during their assault, killing over 25 militants and destroying two armored vehicles mounted with a 14.5mm machine gun.
Hezbollah and the 1st Armored Division have encircled Jabhat Al-Nusra’s positions, while also closing off the Lebanese border-crossing that was used to funnel weapons and supplies to the militants entrenched in this mountainous area of Syria.
Meanwhile, in the Qalamoun Mountains, Hezbollah has launched a counter-offensive against the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra at Tal Faleeta – the assault comes two days after the militants established a presence at this hill overlooking the imperative village of Faleeta.
In ‘Assal Al-Ward, Hezbollah – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) – carried out an ambush on a convoy of militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) – the ambush netted 16 enemy combatant casualties, including “Abu Fouad Al-Trablosi” (Lebanese).
