Syrian Forces Repel Terrorist Attacks in Fuaa, Kill over 100 Terrorists
The sources said that nearly 8,000 civilians are still surrounded in Fuaa and Kafraya by the militants.
“Terrorists of al-Nusra Front and Jeish al-Fatah continue to bear losses. At least 100 militants in two days were killed. The humanitarian situation in Fuaa and neighboring Kafraya is catastrophic,” the source stated.
The extremist groups, including al-Qaeda-affiliated militants, started firing rockets and mortar shells on the residential area of the two besieged Shiite-majority towns on Saturday, killing tens of civilians and wounding hundreds.
The second attack was launched by the suicide bombers driving in mined infantry fighting vehicles and trucks.
In response, Syria’s Air Forces launched 20 airstrikes on the militants’ convoys that were carrying reinforcements to the front, the source said.
On Sunday, military sources said that after a long night meeting between the Syrian Army’s central command and Ahrar al-Sham leader, another 24-hour truce was agreed to be put in place at the cities of Zabadani and Madaya in Damascus governorate and Fuaa and Kafraya in Idlib governorate.
According to a military source in Damascus, the ceasefire agreement between the Syrian Armed Forces and the militants of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham was set to begin at 6 a.m. Sunday (Damascus Time) at the aforementioned cities; this non-violent agreement is scheduled to expire on Monday morning.
