Police Discover, Defuse Strong Roadside Bomb in Southeastern Iran
“After several hours of efforts and point to point search operations, the (police) operational units managed to discover a 30*30-cm green box weighing almost 21kg which contained explosives and was planted beside a rock near the road,” Commander of Sistan and Balouchestan province’s Police Force Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi said on Sunday.
He added that after discovering the box, the operational and bomb disposal teams were sent to the region and defused the explosive device.
In relevant remarks late last month, Commander of the Iranian Border Guards Brigadier General Qassem Rezayee announced that his forces had arrested three members of Jeish al-Haq terrorist group near the country’s border in the Southeast.
“Three members of Jeish al-Haq terrorist group who sought to enter the country with full equipment to stage massive plots were arrested by the border guards at Sistan and Balouchestan province’s bordering areas (with Pakistan) in the holy month of Ramadan (May 18-June 17),” Rezayee told reporters in the Northwestern city of Tabriz.
He said that several other terrorists were also arrested in the Northwestern parts of Iran early this Iranian year (started on March 21).
Rezayee voiced regret over Pakistan’s lax control over its borders with Iran which, he said has paved the ground for the trafficking of terrorists and drug traffickers, and said Pakistan should increase security measures along the two countries’ joint borders.
