Iraqi forces capture strategic bridge east of Ramadi
Iraqi Army – backed by popular forces and local ‘Anbari tribesmen – imposed full control over the Al-Hamidiyah Bridge in Ramadi’s eastern countryside after launching an offensive against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) along the Old Baghdad-Amman Road.
According to local reports, the Iraqi Armed Forces and their allies seized Al-Hamidiyah Bridge after a fierce battle with ISIS that lasted for just over 12 hours in the Ramadi countryside.
The capture of Al-Hamidiyah Bridge comes just one week after the Iraqi Armed Forces established full control over the imperative village of Al-Sijariyah in east Ramadi, marking a successful two weeks of battle for the government forces.
