Officials from Iran and Syria signed an agreement on a full-fledged program that entails the exchange of university students in all fields.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Damascus on Wednesday, attended by Iran’s Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Reza Sheibani and Syria’s Minister of Higher Education Muhammad Amer Mardini.

The deal enables undergraduate and graduate students from the two nations to enroll in the universities of the other country in the whole academic fields.

Signing the contract on behalf of Iran’s minister of science, the ambassador said Tehran is eager to forge closer cultural and educational links with Syria.

Sheibani also touched on the history of Persian language courses in the Syrian universities at Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia and Homs, calling for efforts to strengthen the bilateral relations.

Several countries in the region and even other continents offer Persian-language courses, which are usually administered by Iranian teachers.
