Syrian Army scores big advance against ISIS in southern Syria

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) had a big day in southern Syria, today, as their troops liberated several areas occupied by the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Al-Safa region.
Led by their 3rd and 10th divisions, the Syrian Arab Army began the day by storming the Islamic State’s positions at several axes in the Al-Safa volcanic region.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate one kilometer of territory from the Islamic State after a fierce battle in the Al-Safa region earlier today.
The area reportedly consisted of several caves and trenches that the Islamic State used during this month and a half long battle in southern Syria.
The Syrian Army is now trying to break the Islamic State’s main line of defense at the northeastern axis of this large mountain; however, the latter is heavily resisting.
