‘Palestine, resistance key points of Islamic awakening’

The issue of Palestine and the Islamic resistance against the Zionist regime were the main elements of the Islamic awakening in the Middle East and North Africa region, the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei’s adisor for international affairs Ali-Akbar Velayati said Saturday.

Velayati made the remarks in his address as the prelude to the opening ceremony of the two-day conference on Islamic Awakening in Tehran.

The conference started its work with the speech of the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei elaborating on the recent events in the region.

The heads of the three branches of power in the Islamic Republic were also present in the opening ceremony.

Velayati is the secretary general of the conference.

More than 600 Muslim thinkers and scholars from over 80 countries are attending the gathering.
