Palestinians could not stand up to Israel without Iran’s support: Islamic Jihad chief
A senior Palestinian resistance leader said that the Palestinian people could not stand against Israel if not for Iran’s full support.
Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement Ziyad al-Nakhaleh made the remarks at a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran on Saturday.
He praised Iran’s important role in supporting the resistance of the Palestinian people since the start of Israel’s genocidal war against the people of Gaza in early October 2023.
Iran’s active diplomacy played a leading role in clarifying the position of Palestine’s resistance, he added.
The Islamic Jihad leader emphasized that the Palestinian people will achieve a final victory in their fight against Israel, saying the steadfastness of the Palestinians will be a model for all the people of the world.
Nakhaleh added that Iran has paid the price for its constant support for the resistance of the Palestinian people and its defense of the Palestinians’ rights as numerous sanctions have been imposed against Tehran.
He thanked the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian officials and nation for supporting Palestine.
Israel’s genocidal US-backed war started after Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Nearly six months into the hostilities, the regime has failed to achieve its objectives of “destroying Hamas” and finding Israeli captives despite killing at least 32,705 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring over 75,190 others.
More victories of Palestinian resistance, people will emerge: Amir-Abdollahian
On the third day of his stay in Tehran on Saturday, Nakhaleh and Amir-Abdollahian held a meeting and discussed the latest developments in Gaza and the continuation of Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinians.
Amir-Abdollahian said the world would undoubtedly witness more victories made by the Palestinian people and resistance in the future.
He hailed the important role of Islamic Jihad in supporting the Palestinian people’s rights and their fight against Israel’s acts of aggression.
He said unity and cohesion among the Palestinian resistance groups and their brave battle against Israel as well as exemplary resistance of people resulted in big victories on various political, legal and international fronts.
The top Iranian diplomat added that Israel is facing increasing multi-faceted crises and emphasized that the people of Palestine are more powerful than ever before and are supported by world nations while the Tel Aviv regime is more hated and isolated than ever.
Nakhaleh, for his part, said despite Israel’s six months of unequal war against the Gaza Strip and the US’s full political and military support for the regime, the Palestinian people and resistance did not allow Israel to achieve any of its strategic goals.
The Islamic Jihad chief added that the Palestinian people would impose their own will on the Israeli enemy and its allies and expressed confidence that they would achieve a final victory.
