Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed Imam Ayatollah Khamenei Participates in Arbaeen Remembrance Ceremony
Imam Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, attended a mourning ceremony in Tehran to observe Arbaeen. This event commemorates the 40th day following the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shiite Imam.

In commemoration of the Arbaeen, marking 40 days since the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), Ayatollah Khamenei participated in the event which included the recitation of Ziyarat Arbaeen and a mourning ceremony honoring the third Shiite Imam.
The event took place on Sunday morning at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah in Tehran.
Khamenei.ir reported that university students from across Iran also took part in the event.
Arbaeen is recognized as a national holiday in Iran. It commemorates the 40th day following Ashura, which marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), in 680 AD.
On Arbaeen, the Iraqi city of Karbala, home to the sacred shrine of Imam Hussein (AS), draws millions of pilgrims, including non-Muslims, forming the largest human gathering in contemporary history.
