Leader Imam Ayatollah Khamenei lauded martyr Sinwar as a “prominent symbol of resistance and persistence”
Supreme Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed Imam Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has lauded the contributions of the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, highlighting his critical involvement in opposing what he termed an "aggressive enemy." Khamenei honored Sinwar as a "prominent symbol" of resistance and perseverance.

In a statement issued on Saturday, following the confirmation of Sinwar’s martyrdom by Hamas, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his sympathies to Sinwar’s family, comrades, and all individuals committed to the cause of jihad in the name of God.
In a tribute, he described the individual as a beacon of defiance and perseverance, noting their resolute determination in facing a formidable and aggressive adversary.
In a decisive act marked by wisdom and bravery, he delivered a significant blow to the opposition on October 7, a day that will be remembered in the annals of this region. Subsequently, he was honored posthumously, rising to a martyr’s status with dignity and pride.
The Leader highlighted the relentless progression of the “resistance front,” asserting that its course remains unyielding even in the face of the loss of its “prominent figures.”
A statement by a spokesperson emphasized that Yahya Sinwar, a figure renowned for his longstanding opposition to perceived adversaries, is viewed as deserving of a martyr’s fate. The spokesperson acknowledged that Sinwar’s loss would be significant for the resistance, but stressed that the movement has continued to persevere and advance following the assassinations of key leaders such as Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Fat’hi Shaqaqi, Abdel Aziz Rantisi, and Ismail Haniyeh. The spokesperson expressed confidence that Sinwar’s death would not impede their progress, and declared that Hamas remains resilient and will endure.
He reiterated the Islamic Republic’s unwavering commitment to backing resistance fighters, stating, “We remain steadfast in our support for the mujahideen and dedicated fighters, with the hope of divine success and assistance.”
Hamas has officially confirmed on Friday the death of its leader, Sinwar, attributing his demise to an Israeli airstrike in the city of Rafah, located in the Gaza Strip.
Yahya Sinwar assumed the role of Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh by Israeli forces in July.
