Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, Deputy Head of the Higher Islamic Shia Council in Lebanon, asserted that the Resistance movement is actively upholding its duty to protect the nation from Zionist aggression. He noted this as a response to what he described as the Lebanese government’s longstanding hesitance, dating back to 1947, in addressing this issue.

In a recent interview with Al-Manar Channel, conducted at the historic Shia Council headquarters in Hazmieh, Sheikh Al-Khatib stated that certain Lebanese factions criticize the Resistance, despite its numerous sacrifices for Lebanon. He further claimed these factions offer political support to the Zionist conflict, whether knowingly or inadvertently.

His Eminence remarked that these parties consistently demonstrate defeat and weakness, as they are aware of Israeli ambitions in Lebanon but choose to ignore them. He advised that they should instead support the Resistance, which he asserted would ultimately triumph on the battlefield.

In an interview led by Diaa Abu Taam, Director of Al-Manar Website, discussions encompassed the recent spiritual summit held at the Maronite Patriarchate in Bkirki. Sheikh Khatib emphasized that the gathering showcased national unity and expressed backing for the resistance movement.

Sheikh Khatib stressed that conducting presidential elections during the ongoing conflict with Israel in Lebanon could undermine the new president’s legitimacy and potentially lead to skepticism about his leadership in the future.

Sheikh Khatib has asserted that resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine have successfully highlighted the shortcomings of the international system, pointing to the inefficacy of global organizations particularly amid the United States’ support for the Zionist entity.

Sheikh Khatib commended the remarkable resilience demonstrated by those displaced from their homes amid the ongoing Zionist aggression. He expressed his gratitude towards the Lebanese community for their hospitality and support for the displaced individuals.

In a recent statement, His Eminence recounted his association with the late leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah during their seminary studies in the holy city of Al-Najaf in the mid-1970s. He emphasized that Sayyed Nasrallah had achieved success both during his lifetime and in the afterlife.

“We are the ones who have suffered his loss,” the statement lamented.
