Iran’s ambassador returned to Lebanon to continue his diplomatic duties

The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, who sustained injuries in a pager explosion in the Arab nation, has made his return to Beirut to resume his diplomatic duties after a two-month recovery period.

Upon his arrival in Beirut, Mojtaba Amani was greeted by officials from Hezbollah, the Amal Movement, various Palestinian groups, and Iranian representatives. Among those present to welcome him was Rauf Sheibani, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Special Representative for West Asian Affairs.

For the past two months, Sheibani has been positioned at the Iranian embassy in Lebanon, where he has played a key role in liaising and consulting with Lebanese officials and various groups, according to sources.

On September 17, Amani was one of numerous individuals injured in explosions caused by Israeli pagers across Lebanon. Following the incident, he, along with many others who were hurt, was transported to Tehran for medical treatment.

Amani, commenting on the pager alerts in Lebanon, stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s acknowledgment of responsibility for the operation equated to an admission of committing a war crime.
