The head of UNRWA: Wars have rules but every single war rule has been violated by ‘israel’

Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), reported an intensification in Israel's military operations in Gaza within the last 24 hours. The Israeli armed forces have continued their heavy assault on the isolated region.

In a statement posted on X on Sunday, Lazzarini renewed his appeal for a ceasefire, cautioning against global desensitization to ongoing violence.

The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has accused Israel of breaching established rules of engagement through its assaults on educational and medical facilities.

He stated that the established conventions of warfare have all been violated.

He emphasized that a ceasefire is urgently needed to provide relief for civilians, particularly in Gaza, and called for the immediate release of hostages, stating that too much time has already been lost.

An Israeli airstrike on the al-Mawasi refugee camp, located near Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, has resulted in the deaths of at least seven individuals and the injury of numerous others. The strike specifically targeted tents accommodating displaced Palestinians, according to local reports.

In central Gaza, an airstrike targeted a school situated northwest of the Nuseirat refugee camp, resulting in multiple fatalities.

The regime’s artillery conducted strikes on multiple locations throughout Gaza, resulting in an unspecified number of Palestinian casualties, including fatalities and injuries.

On October 7, 2023, Israel commenced military operations in Gaza following a surprise offensive titled Operation al-Aqsa Flood, initiated by Hamas-led resistance factions. This marked a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, which the groups cite as a retaliation against Israel’s prolonged and destructive policies towards the Palestinian territories.

The ongoing offensive in Gaza by the ruling authorities has resulted in the reported deaths of 45,227 Palestinians, a significant number of whom are women and children. Additionally, 107,573 individuals have sustained injuries. Furthermore, thousands remain unaccounted for and are feared buried beneath debris.

The Israeli government has implemented a “complete siege” on the region, halting the supply of fuel, electricity, food, and water to the over two million Palestinians residing in the area.

The Israeli military has reportedly demolished 70 percent of the structures in the Jabalia refugee camp amid ongoing operations in northern Gaza.

Amos Harel, a respected military affairs analyst, reported in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Sunday that the Jabalia refugee camp has effectively turned into a “ghost town” as a result of Israel’s ongoing and lethal military operations in the region.
