Zionist Forces set up strategic post atop Mount Hermon

Zionist forces have initiated extensive search operations across the summit of Mount Hermon, aiming to secure a strategic vantage point that provides oversight of rural Damascus.

Israeli forces are conducting extensive sweeps across the peak of Mount Hermon, as they work to establish a strategic position with a view over the southwestern countryside of Damascus. This development was reported by local sources to Al Mayadeen on Monday.

According to reports, the Israeli military has recovered military equipment from a specific location, including the remains of an Israeli helicopter that was downed during the 1973 October War.

On Sunday, a credible source informed Al Mayadeen that Israeli tanks and armored units advanced along the al-Hamidiyah axis in Quneitra’s rural region towards the provincial hub of al-Baath town in southwest Syria. This maneuver coincided with inspection operations conducted by Israeli forces, focusing on several residences and agricultural properties in the villages of the central countryside.

This development follows the Israeli Occupation Forces’ establishment of seven permanent positions throughout the buffer zone along the line, which spans the rural regions of Damascus, Daraa, and Quneitra.

The strategic locations include Hermon 1, Hermon 2, and the Beit Jinn Gap situated on the slopes of Mount Sheikh in the southwestern rural district of Damascus. Additionally, Qurs al-Nafal Hill, located west of Hader in northern Quneitra, Kassarat Jubat al-Khashab in northern Quneitra, the 74th barracks in southern Quneitra, and the al-Jazeera barracks near the Syrian-Jordanian border in the Yarmouk Basin of western Daraa are also key positions.

Mount Hermon’s Points 1 and 2 offer a strategic vantage point with commanding views of the Syrian capital, Damascus, as well as its extensive western suburbs.

As of now, Israel has fully occupied approximately 500 square kilometers of territory in southern Syria. This expansion has resulted in the demolition of Syrian military installations situated on the slopes of Mount Hermon and within the hills of Quneitra and Daraa, according to recent reports.
