Iran condemns the zionist assault on Kamal Adwan Hospital, labeling it heinous war crime

Iran has denounced the recent Israeli assault on the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, labeling it "a heinous war crime" and a component of the ongoing genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories. Tehran has also criticized the lack of response from relevant international bodies, deeming their silence "unjustifiable."

In a statement issued on Saturday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei condemned the violent Israeli assault on a medical facility, highlighting the extensive damage inflicted on most of its departments. The incident was described as a recent instance of a war crime, a crime against humanity, and a serious breach of international law and standards.

He declared that the act was carried out with the intent to obliterate Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure, stripping children, women, the injured, and patients of any medical services.

Baghaei emphasized that Kamal Adwan Hospital was one of the few remaining operational medical facilities in northern Gaza. He characterized the Israeli military’s assault on the hospital, along with the forced removal of patients and healthcare personnel, as “a grievous war crime and a component of the continuing mass violence in occupied Palestine.”

A senior Iranian diplomat has strongly criticized international institutions for their “unjustifiable” silence on the matter, emphasizing that it is their responsibility to take appropriate measures in response to the alleged crime.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that an incursion by the Israeli military at the Kamal Adwan Hospital has rendered the last operational healthcare facility in northern Gaza non-functional. Essential departments of the hospital were reportedly devastated by fire amid the military operation.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that Israeli forces have detained numerous staff members from the Kamal Adwan Hospital, including the hospital’s director, Hussam Abu Safia, for questioning.

On October 7, 2023, Israel initiated a military offensive on Gaza following Hamas’ execution of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. This move by the Palestinian resistance group was in retaliation to heightened acts of aggression by Israeli forces against Palestinians.

The military offensive on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of 45,736 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, while leaving 108,038 injured. Thousands remain missing, feared deceased beneath the debris.

Since October 2023, Israel’s military has consistently restricted the entry of essential supplies, including food, medicine, medical equipment, fuel, and shelter materials, into the blockaded Palestinian territory.

Over a year into the campaign led by the Tel Aviv government, key infrastructure in the region, including water systems, sanitation facilities, and bread mills, has been completely destroyed.
