Ben-Gvir resigns from Netanyahu’s coalition in protest against the ceasefire agreement with Hamas
An Israeli minister and his entire party have announced their resignation from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ruling coalition in response to the ceasefire agreement reached concerning Gaza.

Itamar Ben-Gvir and his Jewish Power party declared on Sunday their decision to withdraw from the governing coalition, citing their disapproval of what they termed “the reckless agreement with Hamas.”
The party has labeled the ceasefire agreement as a “capitulation to Hamas” and expressed that it signifies a renunciation of the Israeli government’s purported accomplishments since the commencement of the conflict.
Jewish Power has stated it will refrain from efforts to dissolve Prime Minister Netanyahu’s cabinet. However, the resignation of its ministers, notably Itamar Ben-Gvir, poses a considerable challenge to the stability of Netanyahu’s coalition, leaving it significantly weakened.
The party has expressed its readiness to rejoin Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition if hostilities resume in the future.
In a video shared on the social media platform X, Israeli government official Itamar Ben-Gvir conceded that he, alongside fellow minister Bezalel Smotrich, leveraged their political clout to obstruct the progress of a proposed ceasefire agreement.
A spokesperson from the Jewish Power Party has announced that if the controversial agreement is passed and enacted, the party will withdraw its support and exit the governing coalition.
Ben-Gvir has called for a total halt to the delivery of humanitarian aid, fuel, electricity, and water to the conflict-stricken Palestinian enclave.
Ben-Gvir has been found guilty of charges including incitement to racism, property damage, possession of propaganda materials linked to a “terror” organization, and endorsing a terrorist group, specifically the Israeli faction Kahane Chai, which he became affiliated with at the age of 16.
Israel reluctantly agreed to a ceasefire arrangement with Hamas on Wednesday, which is scheduled to commence on Sunday at 06:30 GMT.
On October 7, 2023, Israel commenced a significant military operation in Gaza following a landmark offensive by Hamas and affiliated resistance groups. This escalation was in response to ongoing and intensified actions perceived as oppressive against Palestinians.
Since October, the Gaza Strip has experienced significant unrest as the occupying forces have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 46,788 Palestinians, including a substantial number of women and children. Additionally, nearly 110,450 individuals have sustained injuries amid the ongoing conflict.
