Pezeshkian: Iran places significant emphasis on strengthening its relations with Latin America

President Masoud Pezeshkian has underscored Tehran's commitment to enhancing its diplomatic and economic ties with Latin American countries, highlighting this initiative as a central focus of his administration's foreign policy agenda.

In a recent telephone conversation with Colombian President Gustavo Petro, President Pezeshkian conveyed Iran’s strong interest in bolstering collaboration between the two nations.

He expressed support for enhancing regional and international cooperation between Tehran and Bogotá.

The Iranian President emphasized the critical need for solidarity among independent nations, particularly as they face global challenges stemming from US policies.

“In these pivotal times, as decisions made in the United States could potentially trigger global crises, it is crucial to promote unity, dialogue, and cooperation among sovereign nations,” he stated.

He lauded Colombia for its resolute support of Gaza’s populace, its condemnation of forced displacement and acts of genocide in the region, and its role in advancing peace initiatives.

Petro has expressed support for bolstering relations with Iran, emphasizing that the current global challenges demand enhanced collaboration among countries.

He further extended the cordial greetings of the Colombian populace to Iran and articulated his wish to convene with President Pezeshkian.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has reiterated the nation’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people, expressing aspirations to play a role in fostering enduring peace in the region.
