Iranian Lawmakers Condemn UK’s Terrorist Designation of IRGC

Tehran – Iranian legislators have issued a strong condemnation in response to British parliament members’ initiative to classify the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, pledging to undertake corresponding legal measures.
In a public parliamentary session held on Tuesday, Ahmad Naderi, a member of the presiding board, delivered a statement addressing the actions taken by more than 550 members of the British House of Commons and House of Lords concerning the IRGC.
The statement criticized the move by British legislators as “foolish and hostile,” underscoring the Iranian parliament’s commitment to upholding national sovereignty, security, and the authority of the country’s Armed Forces. The Iranian legislative body firmly opposed this action, based on its legal duty to protect these interests.
The initiative, reportedly influenced by directives from the “Zionist regime” and the MKO group’s propaganda, has been criticized for lacking legal foundation and political legitimacy.
Lawmakers issued a formal censure against Britain, condemning its persistent colonial and interventionist stance toward sovereign nations.
The statement highlights Britain’s “dark history” of interference in Iran, accusing it of consistently jeopardizing the security and well-being of the Iranian populace through its actions of meddling and aggression.
