Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri held a meeting on Monday with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, during which Salam reaffirmed his commitment to the ministerial statement and indicated that avenues for dialogue with Hezbollah remain open.
The National News Agency (NNA) has reported that discussions between Berri and Salam encompassed the latest general developments, political updates, and the ongoing reconstruction efforts.
After the meeting at Ain Al-Tineh, Salam addressed reporters, asserting that he has remained completely aligned with the agreed-upon terms, countering allegations of deviating from the ministerial statement.
He emphasized his dedication to reconstruction efforts, highlighting that the government is actively mobilizing the required support for the initiative.
In a recent development, an openness to dialogue and engagement with Hezbollah has been indicated.
In statements reported by local media, Mohammad Raad, a Hezbollah MP, along with the group are welcomed openly. “The doors of my home and the Grand Serail remain open,” he expressed.
In reaction to recent developments, Hajj Mohammad Raad, the leader of the Loyalty to Resistance Bloc, conveyed gratitude via Al-Manar TV for Prime Minister Salam’s favorable comments. He emphasized the anticipation of an upcoming meeting with the premier to communicate the bloc’s perspective.
In response to inquiries regarding the relationship with the Lebanese prime minister last week, Speaker Berri informed the Lebanese daily Al-Jomhouriya that Salam’s tone essentially dictates the overall atmosphere.
“He raises the stakes, we’ll respond in kind; should he maintain composure, we shall do the same.”
