Israeli Strikes Hit Iranian Hospitals, Ambulances, and Universities

Israeli operations targeting Iran have reportedly expanded to include the healthcare infrastructure, with airstrikes reportedly impacting medical facilities.

Reports indicate that Israeli military action has expanded to impact Iran’s healthcare infrastructure. Over the span of one week, airstrikes have reportedly targeted at least three hospitals and six ambulances, raising concerns about the implications for medical services in the region.

Recent attacks have resulted in the tragic loss of numerous medical professionals. Among the victims were a female gynecologist and a pediatrician along with her 3-year-old child. Additionally, many other healthcare workers sustained injuries in these incidents.

On Monday, Israeli forces launched an operation targeting a structure affiliated with Shahid Beheshti University, allegedly aiming to disrupt Iran’s cultural and scientific framework. Additionally, an attack was directed at the entrance of Evin Prison in Tehran.

The Israeli offensive targeting Iran’s medical sector forms part of a larger pattern of aggression, reminiscent of the widespread devastation of hospitals and clinics in Gaza, as the conflict surpassed 600 days.

The situation once more exposes the Israeli regime’s blatant disregard for international humanitarian law and highlights the West’s evident double standards in responding to these incidents.

Iran’s Health Minister, Dr. Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi, issued a strong rebuke earlier this week, criticizing the Israeli strikes. He stated, “We are confronting a regime that disregards boundaries, laws, and humanitarian principles,” and emphasized that even medical personnel and patients are not being spared.

A pattern has emerged regarding strikes targeting hospitals.

In the early hours of June 20, Israeli rockets targeted a hospital in Tehran, marking the third such facility in the capital to be hit within a week, according to Dr. Hossein Kermanpour, a spokesman for the health ministry. This incident is part of a series of attacks initiated by the Zionist regime’s aggressive actions against Iran that began on June 13.

Kermanpour reported that six ambulances along with a comprehensive health service center have come under severe attack by what he described as the Zionist enemy.

In the past week, there have been at least six breaches of international conventions.

Amid the seriousness of these incidents, Western governments have remained largely silent, refraining from denouncing Israel’s actions against Iran’s healthcare sector.
