Zionist Airstrikes Claim Life of Woman, Injure 20 in Southern Lebanon Amid Continuing Ceasefire Violations

A woman was killed and 20 others were injured on Friday following a series of Israeli airstrikes on the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon. Lebanese officials have condemned the attacks, labeling them as a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement.

A woman lost her life and 20 others sustained injuries on Friday following a series of Israeli airstrikes on the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon. Lebanese officials have strongly condemned the attacks, labeling them as a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has reported that an Israeli drone attack on a residential apartment near the Teachers’ House resulted in injuries to 13 individuals. Additionally, seven more people sustained injuries in separate attacks carried out on the outskirts of the city and in the nearby town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa.

Israeli fighter jets conducted a series of airstrikes throughout the region, specifically targeting the Jabal Shqaif area. The operation reportedly focused on a location purportedly connected to Hezbollah’s air defense infrastructure. The Israeli military stated that the facility had been previously rendered inoperative and accused Hezbollah of efforts to reconstruct it, labeling such efforts as a “violation of understandings.”

In response, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam denounced the attacks as a “blatant breach of the ceasefire,” posing a threat to regional stability.

Lebanon’s leader, Joseph Aoun, has urged the international community to take action, accusing Israel of disregarding numerous diplomatic appeals for de-escalation.

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry has formally appealed to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, requesting the extension of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon’s (UNIFIL) mandate for an additional year. This measure aims to mitigate the risk of further escalation along the border.

Since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect on November 27, 2024, Israel has allegedly committed upwards of 3,000 breaches, resulting in the deaths of at least 223 individuals and injuries to over 500, according to figures reported by Anadolu Agency, citing official sources.

In defiance of the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces maintain their hold on five strategically significant hills in southern Lebanon, which were captured during the previous year’s military offensive. Thus far, only a partial withdrawal has been executed.
