“Israeli Strike on Evin Prison Results in 71 Iranian Fatalities, Deemed ‘Full-fledged Crime'”
The judiciary of Iran has reported that at least 71 individuals have lost their lives following an Israeli strike on Tehran's Evin prison. This incident occurred amid recent hostilities directed against the nation.
Judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir reported on Sunday that the Zionist regime executed a “full-scale crime” on June 23, resulting in significant financial and physical harm to residents living near the prison’s visitation and interrogation facilities.
He stated that the assault on Evin Prison resulted in the martyrdom of 71 individuals, comprising prison administrative staff, soldiers, convicted inmates, families of prisoners who were visiting or involved in legal matters, as well as nearby residents.
Jahangir reported that several individuals sustained injuries during the Israeli strike. While some received treatment on site, others were transported to a hospital for further medical care.
An Israeli assault, which included a strike on the prison’s medical facility, occurred during the scheduled visitation hours for inmates with their families and social workers, according to statements.
Following the incident, reports from Iranian media indicate that inmates at the prison have been relocated to other facilities within Tehran Province to ensure their safety.
On June 13, Israel conducted a significant military operation targeting Iran, resulting in the killing of several high-ranking military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians.
More than a week after initial developments, the United States took action by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites, a move that represents a serious breach of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
In retaliation, Iranian military units launched strikes on strategic locations within the occupied territories and the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, which stands as the largest U.S. military installation in the West Asian region.
On June 24, Iran conducted successful counteroperations targeting both Israel and the United States, effectively bringing a halt to the unauthorized attack.
