Hezbollah Leader Asserts Commitment to Husseini Doctrine, Rejects Humiliation and Surrender

Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, announced that the Lebanese populace will steadfastly refuse any form of humiliation or surrender in conflict with Israel. He emphasized that their course is firmly a Husseini one, centered on dignity, defiance, and sacrifice.

Sheikh Qassem issued a statement on Sunday amid increasing pressure from the United States and Israel on Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah ahead of a possible normalization agreement between Beirut and Tel Aviv.

In a speech marking Ashura, the anniversary of Imam Hussein’s martyrdom, Sheikh Qassem declared that Hezbollah firmly opposes any normalization with the occupying regime, describing it as an act of humiliation and disgrace.

He stated that threats would not lead to surrender and deemed it unacceptable to ask for a softening of positions or the abandonment of weapons amid ongoing aggression.

Hezbollah expressed surprise at demands to surrender its rocket arsenal, asserting that these weapons form the core of its defensive strategy.

The Hezbollah leader stated that without the resistance, Israel would have taken control of Lebanese towns and villages.

He further addressed last year’s ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, highlighting that the regime has allegedly breached the truce on numerous occasions.

He emphasized that Israel must adhere to the agreement, which entails withdrawing from Lebanon, ceasing its aggression and aerial incursions, and releasing prisoners.

In October 2023, Israel initiated military actions targeting Lebanon following Hezbollah’s resolute pro-Palestinian assaults on the occupied territories.

The agreement to the truce deal came after unsuccessful attempts to halt resistance operations or significantly undermine Hezbollah’s capabilities, which were the initial objectives.

In his statements, Sheikh Qassem affirmed Hezbollah’s commitment to both peace and state-building, as well as preparedness for confrontation and defense. He emphasized, “We will not abandon our rights, regardless of the sacrifices involved.”

He praised Yemen’s actions against the Tel Aviv regime, stating that Sana’a has successfully embarrassed both the US and Israel.

In a recent statement, Sheikh Qassem commended the resilience of the Iranian populace amidst last month’s Israeli-US offensive against the nation.

He further asserted that Palestine will persist as the homeland of its people and emphasized Hezbollah’s ongoing support for the embattled nation.
