Iran biggest producer of raw steel in ME, Africa

Ministry of Industries, Mines and Commerce announced on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is considered as the biggest producer of raw steel in the Middle East and Africa.

According to the latest report of the World Steel Association (WSA), the country has exported over 3.626 million tons of raw steel in the first quarter of 2012, adding that the figure indicated 6.8 percent rise compared to the corresponding period last year.

Iran has exported 1.163 million tons of raw steel in March 2012, the figure shows 7.7 percent rise compared to the same period last year.

‘Iran enjoys the highest production rate of raw steel compared to the main steel producers in the world including China, India, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Japan and UK in the first quarter of 2012,’ WSA reported.
