“Enemies Fail in Diplomatic War with Iran”: The Leader of Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Khamenei
The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined the successful holding of the 16th heads-of-state summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran, and said enemies were defeated in diplomatic war with Iran.
The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with the chairman and members of the Assembly of Experts in Tehran on Thursday, and said the Islamic Republic of Iran scored another victory in the diplomatic campaign with the western governments, citing successful performance of the landmark summit of leaders of the NAM.
Supreme Leader said performance of the landmark summit of the NAM leaders brought a setback for the western governments in the diplomatic campaign they had waged against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He gave an upbeat report about the state of affairs in the Islamic Republic of Iran to Assembly of Experts, the leadership body monitoring performance of the three branches of government and the Office of the Supreme Leader, and said “The state of affairs is on the right track and satisfactory.”
Supreme Leader said that successful performance of the 16th NAM Summit of Leaders in Tehran properly demonstrated the country’s strength, authority and dignity.
The international event at a time when the western governments had waged diplomatic campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran brought them humiliating defeat and fiasco, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
“They (the enemies) attempted to downgrade the landmark event by discouraging the NAM Leaders from attending the Summit in Tehran and resorted to censorship when they saw the massive turnout the world leaders to conceal the NAM Leaders’ stand about continued occupation of Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime but to no avail.”
“Participation of about two thirds of world leaders in Tehran Summit is regarded as a significant point of the Summit,” Leader said.
On brilliant aspects of the NAM Summit, Supreme Leader said that the stand made by the heads of state and senior delegates on various issues such as incompetence of the current structure of the United Nations Security Council and dictatorship in governance of the international community were unprecedented.
The 16th NAM Summit also successfully thwarted all propaganda as well as media hype on toughening sanctions against Iran, Supreme Leader said, and added, “The success of the event forced the enemies and their media to admit to their futile attempt to isolate Iran.”
The 16th NAM summit was held in Tehran from August 26 to 31.
Some 51 countries sent their high-ranking leaders to the 16th heads-of-state summit of NAM, while over 150 delegations from the world countries and bodies attended the other meetings of the bloc in Tehran.
NAM, which is comprised of some 120 member and 17 observer states, is an international organization of states considering themselves not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. NAM is the largest grouping of countries outside of the United Nations.
During the 6 days of holding the conference, the Iranian officials held meetings with the heads of states and important leaders of different countries attending the conference on different regional and international issues as well as the bilateral relations.
NAM member states represent nearly two-thirds of the United Nations’ members and comprise 55% of the world population, particularly countries considered to be developing or part of the Third World.
