S Arabia calls for prompt resolution of Iran nuclear issue
Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal has called for an “immediate resolution” of the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program.
“We see the issue in the shorter term because we are closer to the threat… We need an immediate resolution,” Prince Saud said at a press conference after meetings with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Jeddah on Tuesday.
Clinton, who wrapped up her Persian Gulf tour on Tuesday, repeated the accusation that Tehran intends to manufacture a nuclear weapon, saying “evidence doesn’t support” Iran’s assertion that its nuclear program is totally peaceful.
Clinton made the tour of Qatar and Saudi Arabia to attempt to isolate Iran from its Arab neighbors in the Persian Gulf and to drum up support for a UN Security Council resolution against Iran.
The US cannot back up its accusations against Iran with any hard facts since the International Atomic Energy Agency has never found a shred of evidence indicating that Iran is pursuing a military nuclear program.
