A source within the Palestinian resistance discloses forthcoming details about a prisoner exchange

On January 20, in a significant development, Hamas released three Israeli women held in captivity, while "Israel" reciprocated by releasing 90 Palestinian prisoners and detainees in the first instance of a prisoner exchange.

Preparations are in motion for the scheduled continuation of the prisoner exchange process this Saturday, in accordance with the agreement with Israel, a leader in the Palestinian Resistance informed Al Mayadeen on Thursday.

A source has indicated that Hamas is set to release four Israeli female captives, who could potentially include both civilians and military personnel, in a proposed exchange deal. In return, Israel is expected to release a number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees.

Reports indicate that “Israel” is prepared to release 90 prisoners currently serving life sentences in exchange for the handover of three female soldiers by Hamas.

The commander announced that the majority of the released detainees are set to be deported from Palestine and will be resettled in multiple countries.

In the initial prisoner swap following the ceasefire agreement, Hamas freed three Israeli women who had been held captive. In exchange, on January 20, Israel released 90 Palestinian prisoners and detainees, according to reports.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, alongside the Palestinian Prisoners Society, has reported that the initial group comprised 69 women and 21 children. Of these, 76 individuals hail from the occupied West Bank, while 14 are from occupied East Jerusalem.

According to a senior source within the Resistance leadership, the second round of the prisoner exchange, scheduled for the seventh day of the agreement, will involve the release of four Israeli women in exchange for 120 Palestinian prisoners. This information was reported by Al Mayadeen on Monday.

In an official statement, Hamas, also known as the Islamic Resistance Movement, confirmed that the second phase of the prisoner exchange is set to proceed as planned on Saturday, January 25.

The initial two days following the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza have proceeded smoothly, with successful prisoner exchanges and the facilitation of humanitarian aid entering the region, according to a confirmed source.

The source underscored multiple “Israeli violations of the agreement, citing activities such as surveillance drone operations and shootings aimed at civilians.” The source cautioned that these breaches, especially the incidents of gunfire, jeopardize the stability of the agreement.

In related developments, a source told Al Mayadeen that Qatari and Egyptian intermediaries, who are liaising with Hamas, the United States, and Israel to maintain the integrity of the agreement, are vigilantly overseeing the ongoing circumstances.

A substantial convoy of humanitarian aid trucks has successfully crossed into Gaza via border checkpoints, under the supervision of the United Nations and the Palestinian Red Crescent.

According to a source, following the initial day of the agreement’s implementation, around 500 trucks entered Gaza. On the subsequent day, this figure rose to over 600 trucks.

According to reports from other locations, heavy machinery is set to be deployed in Gaza to clear debris, retrieve bodies, and facilitate access by reopening roads.

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, a ceasefire agreement between Palestinian resistance factions and Israeli forces was implemented in Gaza. However, shortly after the truce came into force, the agreement was violated by Israeli forces, leading to casualties and injuries among the affected populations.

Following the implementation of the ceasefire, a significant influx of aid has been witnessed at the Rafah border crossing. Hundreds of trucks laden with essential food and medical supplies are poised to enter the Gaza Strip, marking a crucial step in humanitarian relief efforts.

Information acquired by Al Mayadeen reveals that the agreement mandates the daily entry of 600 aid trucks as part of a humanitarian protocol managed by Qatar. This initiative also includes the delivery of 200,000 tents and 60,000 caravans to address immediate shelter requirements.
