Afghan workers stage protest against US company

rahimi20130708175141063Dozens of the employees of an Afghan logistics company have staged a protest after an American firm refused to pay their salaries, Press TV reports.

The demonstration was held on Monday in the Afghan capital city of Kabul.

The manager of the Afghan Mansoor Jalal Logistics and Transportation Company (M.L.C) told reporters that the American firm known as Supreme owes the M.L.C more than USD 20 million.

The US company is tasked with providing logistical support to the foreign forces stationed in war-torn Afghanistan by signing contracts with small Afghan companies.

The protesters warned that if the Afghan government and the foreign forces in the country fail to meet their demands within the next three days, they will stop providing services to all foreign forces in Afghanistan.

The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror.

The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across the country, despite the presence of thousands of US-led troops.
