Afghans protest anti-Iran move in Kabul

Hundreds of Afghan nationals residing in Iran have gathered in front of the UNHCR office in Tehran to protest the anti-Iranian insults made by a few Afghans in Kabul.

Protesters denounced the insults by a small group of people in Kabul calling on the Afghan government not to remain silent about such disrespect towards the Iranian nation and prosecute insulters.

On January 13, a group consisting of less than 50 Afghan nationals chanted insulting slogans against the Islamic Republic of Iran based on the allegation that Iran had delayed the transit of fuel trucks to Afghanistan.

Western media launched propaganda against Iran by trying to harm Iran’s popularity in Afghanistan and undermining its efforts in reconstruction of Afghanistan.

“As Afghans residing in Iran, we condemn the measures by the UK government in ruining cordial ties between Iran and Afghanistan,” an Afghan national residing in Iran said.

Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Fada Hossein Maleki described the protesters who chanted anti-Iran slogans in front of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul as suspicious elements.

Maleki said that if the insulters of last Thursday are not identified and arrested, Iran would reconsider the transit of fuel to Afghanistan.
