Ahmadinejad: Iran will continue to support African nations

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says a bond of fraternity links Iran with all African nations and the country will continue to support them to the bitter end.
Ahmadinejad made the remark in a meeting with Ivory Coast’s new ambassador to Iran Abdoullah Cissé in Tehran late on Saturday.

Many nations across the world have been oppressed by forces of imperialism, but African nations have suffered centuries of oppression more severely than any other nation and thus need more support and empathy from independent countries, Ahmadinejad stated.

The Iranian nation extends their hand of friendship and will stand by the African nations, he said, adding that Tehran sees no obstacle in the way of promoting ties with the countries.

During the meeting, Cissé submitted his credentials to president Ahmadinejad and said that Ivory Coast is also keen to expand its relations with Iran.

He also expressed hope that Tehran and Yamoussoukro would cement their ties during his tenure in Iran.

Independent countries should unite to promote global justice

In a separate meeting with the new Sudanese ambassador to Iran, Mir-Ghani Ababakr on Saturday, Ahmadinejad said that independent countries should make every effort to promote justice and freedom in the world.

He added that Iran and Sudan can play an influential role in achieving the objective.

The president also called Tehran-Khartoum ties brotherly and said the two countries should utilize their potential to cement relations in all spheres.

In the meeting, Ababakr also handed over his credentials to president Ahmadinejad and called for closer ties with Iran.

Earlier in the day, Ahmadinejad held another meeting with the new Indian ambassador to Iran, D. P. Srivastava, and discussed the latest regional developments.

The Indian diplomat also presented his credentials to the Iranian president.
