Ahmadinejad Urges Independent States to Strengthen Unity against Expansionists

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Sudanese Presidential Advisor Mustafa Osman Ismail in Tehran on Tuesday called on independent countries to reinvigorate unity and support each other against the expansionist powers.

“Today the arrogant powers and the enemies of humanity have exerted pressure on independent nations and governments, including Iran and Sudan,” Ahmadinejad said.

“In such conditions, it is the duty of all independent nations and governments to stand against the expansionists through their sympathy, brotherhood and support for each other since such conditions are not everlasting and nations will certainly succeed in future through patience, resistance and reliance on God,” he added.

Elsewhere, Ahmadinejad also underlined Iran’s support for Sudan’s progress and the development of relations with the African country, and said Tehran will always side with the Sudanese nation.

Iran and Sudan have increased their mutual cooperation in various fields in recent years.

During his visit to Sudan late in September 2011, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lauded the close ties between Tehran and Khartoum, and underlined that the two countries are resolved to boost mutual cooperation with no limit or boundary.

Addressing a meeting between high-ranking delegations from Iran and Sudan at the time, Ahmadinejad described the two countries’ ties as “brotherly, deep and stable”, and noted, “Having a deep and shared understanding of the current historical juncture and developments, the two countries are seeking to increase their cooperation at all levels and without any restrictions.”

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, for his part, underlined the significance of the relations between Iran and Sudan, and stated that his country that owns rich natural resources has opened all ways of cooperation to Iran so that the two countries can benefit from these resources in the interest of their nations and the entire Islamic Ummah through partnership and joint cooperation.
