Al-Azhar slams west over dual policies towards Palestine

Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar in a meeting with a delegation from European Parliament slammed dual policies of the west towards the issue of Palestine.

Top Al-Azhar figure, Sheikh Ahmad Al –Tayeb, met with a delegation from European parliament, headed by Martin Schulz and criticized the west over its dual policies towards European Parliament.

Ahmad Al-Tayeb said,” Western countries’ submission to Zionist Israel has left a negative effect on the Arab’s view.”

In this meeting, which was also attended by Marc Franco, European Union ambassador, Al-Azhar top figure said that west needs to apply eastern wisdom to tackle its problems.

He also explained the activities of Al-Azhar University for proximity of different religions and demanded the visiting delegation to express its views over the efforts of Al-Azhar in this field.

Visiting European delegation underscored the importance of an exchange of information with Al-Azhar about true Islam and highlighted necessity of dialogue with Al-Azhar in future and confronting desecration of Islamic sanctities in Europe.
