Al-Jaafari: Int’l community is now convinced of presence of Qaeda-linked terrorism in Syria

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, stressed that some countries have tried to make discussions about Syria and Iran “the axis and basis” of the UN General Assembly meetings in its 68th session and push the issue of chemical weapons instead of bolstering the political process.

In a statement, al-Jaafari said that presenting Iran and Syria as “the axis” of some delegations is a superficial issue and not a crucial one, pointing out that the international community has become convinced of the presence of al-Qaeda-linked terrorism in Syria.

Al-Jaafari added that some Arab countries, particularly the Gulf States, are manipulating terrorism on the pretext of helping the Syrian people, noting that such steps will reflect on them and they will pay for their manipulations just as the US paid in Afghanistan.
