Iran has strongly condemned the Sun. suicide bombings in Iraqi cities of Samarra and Tikrit which killed at least 21 people, including ten Iranian pilgrims.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi expressed his deep condolences to the families of victims, and once again highlighted the duty of the international community toward countering the spread of terrorism and violent acts carried out by Takfiri groups.

Ghasemi further voiced his regret over the martyrdom and injury of a number of Iranian pilgrims in the terrorist attack in Samarra, and expressed his condolences to the Iranian nation and the bereaved families of the innocent martyrs.

The Iranian diplomat deemed these barbaric acts a result of the terrorists’ repeated failures in advancing their sinister objectives in Iraq, adding “the Islamic Republic of Iran will stand by the Iraqi nation and government until the complete eradication of terrorism in that country.”

Suicide bombers driving ambulances packed with explosives killed at least 21 people, including ten Iranian pilgrims, in two Iraqi cities of Tikrit and Samarra. The Sunday twin attacks came as the government forces have launched a wide-scale offensive to retake the northern city of Mosul from ISIL terrorists.
