Al-Nusra Collapses at the Western Sector of Al-Zabadani

The Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from Harakat Ahrar Al-Dham and the Free Syrian Army’s “Liwaa Suqour Al-Zabadani” (Al-Zabadani Hawks Brigade) have struggled these last 27 days in the resort-city of Al-Zabadani, as the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah continue their large-scale offensive.

Things did not get much better for Jabhat Al-Nusra and company on Thursday, as the Syrian Arab Army’s 63rd Brigade of the prestigious 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah took complete control of the Barada Mosque after fierce clashes with the Islamist rebel forces in the western sector of Al-Zabadani.

Following their defeat at the Barada Mosque, Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham were forced to retreat to the central part of the city, resulting in their complete absence from the western sector of Al-Zabadani.

On Friday morning, Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces struck Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s frontline defenses at the Al-Zabadani Bus Station, killing a dozen enemy combatants – firefights are still ongoing.

The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) continued its aerial campaign over the city of Al- Zabadani on Friday, as their hind helicopters pounded Jabhat Al-Nusra’s positions inside the downtown area.

Firefights were also reported between the Syrian Armed Forces and Jabhat Al-Nusra at the northern sector of Al-Madaya this morning.
