Strategic highway in central Syria reopened after 7 years of war

For the first time in seven years, the Homs-Hama Highway (M-5 Highway) has been reopened to the public after rigorous construction was done to repair the road.

According to local reports, the Homs-Hama Highway is now opened to the public and will not require prior authorization to use.

The government was able to retake control of this strategic highway in central Syria after the last terrorists in the northern countryside of Homs departed for northern Syria.

Due to large terrorist presence inside the Al-Rastan Plain of northern Homs, the highway was closed for seven years due to safety reasons.

Today’s reopening of the highway should be a major boost for the Syrian Arab Republic’s domestic economy, as travel times from southern and northern Syria should be shortened a great deal.
