Rouhani Stresses Support for Peace, Serenity in Strait of Hormuz

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, in a meeting with Omani Minister Responsible for Defense Affairs, Badr Bin Saud Bin Harib al-Busaidi, in Tehran on Tuesday, underlined that Tehran has always supported peace and Tranquility in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

President Rouhani said “Iran always wants the Strait of Hormuz to be a strait of peace, friendship and brotherhood”.
The Iranian president pointed to a recent visit of Oman’s King Sultan Qaboos to Iran and the “constructive agreements” reached between the two states during the visit, and said, “As regards expansion of ties with other countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers special priority for its neighbors, especially Oman.”
The Omani minister, for his part, conveyed the warm greetings of his king to President Rouhani, and described Sultan Qaboos’s visit to Iran as successful.
Harib al-Busaidi arrived in Tehran on Monday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.
The Omani minister’s visit takes place at the invitation of the Iranian defense minister.
