In Nigeria, an explosion has killed at least one soldier and a female bomber outside an army barracks in the country’s northeast.
According to AFP, soldiers in the city of Gombe had stopped the assailant as she tried to enter the barracks with explosives hidden under her dress.
The device went off, killing her and a soldier searching her. No one has claimed responsibility for the blast, but the Takfiri militant group Boko Haram has carried out numerous attacks in the country over the past five years, killing thousands of people.
Boko Haram recently made headlines again for kidnapping hundreds of schoolgirls in April, and threatening to sell them into slavery.
