Jalili: Iran can counter threats through resistance economy

Saeed Jalili
Presidential candidate Saeed Jalili has said that Iran can counter enemies’ plots against the country through a “resistance economy.”
Talking on an Iranian TV channel on Saturday night, Jalili gave an example, saying, “The West is exerting pressure on the country through oil (embargo). If we manage to run a non-oil economy, a resistance economy will be shaped.”

Jalili, who is currently the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, added that the next president should spell out his platform on how to address economic issues such as employment, inflation, and the subsidy reform plan.

On foreign policy, Jalili said Iran can stand against the “colonialist powers” and break their “monopoly”, emphasizing that “if we have a strong structure in our foreign policy, the threats will be reduced.”
