Hizbullah Most Significant Resistance Movement Worldwide

Leader of Asaib Ahl al-Haq (Arabic for the League of the Righteous), one of the main resistance factions in Iraq, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, confirmed that his league takes part inthe political process but strictly opposes the fact it [the process] is based on sectarian partnership, which only brings Iraq destruction and ruin.

Al-Khazali on behalf of the party affirmed that the US occupation forces have left behind assassination squads in their US embassy in Baghdad, assuring “We will not allow the gap between us and our brothers of the Sadr party to grow wider.”
In an interview with al-Akhbar newspaper, Sheikh al-Khazali said that his resistance league is a National Islamic resistance faction that helped resist the occupation and force it to set a timeline for its withdrawal.

“Asaib Ahl al-Haq participated in 6035 operations throughout the years of [US] occupation. It also held tens of special operations acknowledged by the enemy, causing its defeat; morally and psychologically”, he stated, adding that the resistance movement also caused hundreds of US troops’ deaths.

Among the most famous operations were downing the British helicopter in the Basra district in May 2006, and attacking the Falcon base in Baghdad on 10-10-2006, completely destroying it”, Sheikh al-Khazali indicated.

Al-Khazali further recalled the operation in which his faction broke into the immunized US security headquarters in Karbala and abducted five US generals and soldiers. He also mentioned shooting down the Hercules plane in the Misan.

On another level, Sheikh al-Khazali emphasized, “We are a National Islamic Resistance group that has confronted the US occupation, which was a nightmare on our country. It is normal that a resistance party this big and strong requires the suitable support in order to continue its work and achieve its goal”.

Answering a question on who backs the movement, and whether that would be Iran, al-Khazali noted that such issue is of the movement’s operative secrets not entitled to revelation.

“We look on Iran as an Islamic Republic that supports liberation movements in most regions of the world, in spite of the sectarian approaches. The proof here is that at the same time, it supports the Shiite Hizbullah in Lebanon, and the Sunni Hamas and Islamic Jihad Movements in Palestine”, Leader of Asaib Ahl al-Haq Resistance Movement stated.

“Regarding the political level, and the relation between Iraq and Iran, we stress on good relations with neighbors, without any interference in their internal affairs. We hope that Iraq’s relations with its neighbors, including Iran, become better than they currently are”, Sheikh al-Khazali clarified to al-Akhbar daily.

Concerning the Syrian crisis, Sheikh al-Khazali went on to say, “What happened in Syria is an exaggeration and an approach assigned against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. The main reason behind this [approach] is the regime’s stance and relations with Iran and Hizbullah”.

He referred to Syrian president’s proposal of reform steps, noting that al-Assad proposed writing a new constitution, forming an expanded government to replace the current one, and holding elections to form a new government; these steps, according to al-Khazali, haven’t been proposed by any other Arab leader.

Regarding the relations with Lebanon, precisely Hizbullah, Sheikh al-Khazali iterated that Lebanon is the Arab country that is perfect in almost all aspects. “All Iraqis and Arabs love Lebanon, but we don’t have any relations with it on the official level”, he said.

“As for Hizbullah, we consider it as the most significant resistance movement in the region and the world, and we maintain good relations with all resistance movement in the region, for we share the same goal”, the Iraqi resistance leader reaffirmed.
