Arab tribes reject Turkey’s safe zone and military incursion in northern Syria

 

The Syrian government’s meeting with the Arab tribes of northern and eastern Syria began this morning inside the town of Ithriya, a military source in Aleppo city told Al-Masdar News.

According to the source, the government delegation, led by Syrian intelligence chief Ali Mamlouk, met with thousands of tribesmen from not only Syria but also neighboring Iraq and Lebanon.

Ths source said that the tribesmen and government reached a consensus on the matter of Turkey’s safe and their future military incursion into the areas controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

All of the tribesmen agreed to reject Turkey’s safe zone and their planned military incursion, while also calling on the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to defend their lands.

Many of the tribesmen from the SDF-held territories were given the latter’s blessings to attend the meeting with the government in Ithriya this morning, the source added.
