Mikati: Any Attempt to Destabilize South Lebanon Will Be Blocked

Lebanese resigned Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Thursday that firing rockets from south Lebanon is a clear attempt to destabilize security in the area.

On his Facebook page, Mikati noted that launching rockets is also an attempt to turn Lebanon into an arena for settling conflicts and to send messages in this or that direction.

“The Lebanese government condemns the rockets incident and considers it a flagrant breaching of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701,” Mikat stated.

“It (the Lebanese government) further stresses that the Lebanese army has started, cooperating with the UNIFIL forces, an intensive investigation to unfold the circumstances of this incident and bring those responsible to justice,” the care-taker PM added.

“Any attempts to undermine the stability enjoyed in southern Lebanon, particularly the border region, should be denied,” Mikati stressed.

On Thursday afternoon, four Grad rockets launched from southern Lebanon were landed in northern Occupied Palestine between Nahariya and Akka. No casualties have been reported.
