Fair probe sure to find US behind 9/11

An Iranian lawmaker says an independent truth-finding committee will reveal the role of the United States and Israel in the September 11 attacks.

“A proposal by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on formation of an independent fact-finding committee will show the hands of the US and Israel in the 9/11 attacks,” member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Parviz Sarvari told IRNA on Saturday.

He termed the Iranian president’s offer as “very rational” and said the US and West which claim to defend democracy and human rights should welcome the formation of the committee.

The Iranian lawmaker said Ahmadinejad’s remark had angered Obama, adding that the US and the Israeli lobby fear their role in the 9/11 terrorist attacks will be exposed.

“The US has so far killed 1.5 million people in Afghanistan and Iraq under the pretext of the September 11 attacks and still continue to massacre,” he said.

“The US fear of the Iranian president’s remark shows Washington is under heavy pressure regarding the September 11 attacks,” Sarvari added.

In his address to the General Assembly on Thursday, President Ahmadinejad said the US took advantage of the ‘suspicious’ September 11 ‘incident’ to justify its occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq.

He went on to raise doubts about the credibility of the US government’s account of the source and nature of the 9/11 attacks indicating that “a very powerful and complex terrorist group, able to successfully cross all layers of the American intelligence and security, carried out the attack.”
