Ashura best medium to distinguish truth from falseness

IRI Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi spoke of Ashura and Muharram as the best medium to distinguish truth from falseness.

Ashura, meaning the tenth, is the 10th day of Muharram which is the first month in the Islamic calendar in which Muslims commemorate the martyrdom of the third Imam Hussein ibn-Ali (AS).

Addressing the gathering of scholars of the Defense Ministry, Vahidi said that there came a time when distinguishing truth from falseness was quite impossible and the only way was for Imam Hussein (AS) to sacrifice his life.

Vahidi added that Imam Hussein’s martyrdom highlighted the significance of differentiating truth from falseness.

IRI Defense Minister spoke of the 1979 revolution in Iran as a beacon light of the Battle of Karbala event and urged scholars to illuminate minds in the time of political turmoil.

Vahidi also pointed to the utmost importance of the armed forces as pillars of the revolution and the need for them to be well aware of enemies’ plots.
