Global rallies decry Israeli aid attack

Tens of thousands have taken to the streets around the globe to show unity with Palestinians and decry Israel’s deadly attack on the Gaza-bound Flotilla.

Moroccans stage a demonstration in Rabat, with government ministers, heads of political parties, trade unions and political activists attending to denounce the Israeli attack, AFP reported.

The demonstrators, stamping on the Israeli flag, crying out slogans such as “everyone against state piracy,” asked for the blockade on the Gaza to be lifted.

They also expressed appreciation with the stance of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan against Israel.

The protest came only days after Israeli forces attacked the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, which was carrying humanitarian aid for the Palestinians, killing at least 20 activists.

The organizers of the demonstration could not give the number of participants, but the police said more than 35,000 were present at the rally.

On Saturday, several other cities around the globe witnessed anti-Israeli demonstrations. Hundreds gathered in front of the White House, protesting against Washington’s support for Tel Aviv.

In Dublin, hundreds of people participated in a demonstration against the Saturday seizure of the Rachel Corrie aid boat.

In Paris, thousands of people, including members of the French Jewish Union for Peace, decried the Israeli attacks on the Freedom Flotilla.

In London, thousands of protestors donned T-shirts with slogans such as “Free Gaza” outside the British prime minister’s official residence on Downing Street before proceeding to the Israeli Embassy.

Protests also took place in Istanbul, Turkey, as thousands of people came to the streets, burning Israeli flags.

Many of the activitisits killed onboard the Freedom Flotilla ship were of Turkish nationality.
