The Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners’ Affairs says Israeli forces have brutalized the Palestinians they detained during their recent offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip.

“Israeli authorities have detained 26 Gazans since the beginning of its offensive [in early July],” the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Two Palestinian detainees had been “severely beaten and abused” by the Tel Aviv regime forces after they were arrested in the town of Khuza’a in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, the ministry said.

The two Palestinian detainees, Moemen al-Naggar and Eissa al-Naggar, have told their Palestinian lawyers that after Tel Aviv’s airstrikes on the town, Israeli forces raided their home with “rabid dogs” and took them to an unknown place on July 23.

The two detainees have also said that they were denied any contact with their families during their detention.

Israel launched the latest war against the blockaded Gaza Strip on July 8. More than 1,940 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have lost their lives and nearly 10,000 have been wounded in the attacks. Palestinian resistance movements say they have killed more than 150 Israelis in the conflict. Israel confirms 64 were killed.

A temporary Egypt-brokered truce between the two sides came into effect at 2100 GMT on Sunday. Israel and Palestinians are currently involved in indirect negotiations in the Egyptian capital of Cairo for a potential extension of the ceasefire.
