Syrian Army Going Impatient with US backed terrorist SDF

Kamel Saqar noted that there are signs of differences between the two sides, specially over the SDF’s control over vast areas in the Northern and Eastern parts of Syria, saying, “The recent comments are considered as the start of a new military phase in Eastern Syria and the army might go impatient with the Kurds in coming days.”

He referred to the regional agreement among the Syrian, Iraq, Iranian and Turkish officials to prevent formation of a separatist government by the SDF, and said that the agreement was made after the Kurds adopted two measures.

“First, they exceeded their limits in the field and entered the Syrian government’s strategic energy fields in the Northern and Eastern parts of the country,” he said, and added, “Second, they have done coordination and changed their role with the ISIL to gain control over several regions and oil fields in the Eastern parts of the Euphrates river.”

Safar underlined that at present, the Syrian army has ended battle against the terrorist groups in 90 percent of the geographical regions in Syria and it would rationally take military action to win back areas controlled by the Kurds, based on field and political priorities.

His remarks came after US President Donald Trump approved providing weapons worth $393 million to its partners in Syria despite Ankara’s concerns over the continued delivery of heavy weapons and armored vehicles to PKK’s Syrian offshoot the People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said mid-December that all US-backed Kurdish armed militants are “traitors” to the Syrian nation, ramping up the rhetoric particularly against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which are mainly active in Northeastern areas of the Arab country through receiving vital substantial air and armament support from Washington.

“When we talk about those referred to as ‘the Kurds’, they are in fact not just Kurds. All those who work for a foreign country, mainly those under American command… are traitors” regardless of their names, Assad added.

The Syrian army troops are preparing for attacking the Kurdish-majority SDF in Deir Ezzur to recapture the oil and gas fields under their control after President al-Assad blasted the Kurds’ betrayal to the country and their close cooperation with the American invaders, media sources disclosed on Sunday.

The Arabic-language al-Hadath news quoted the Russian papers as saying that the Syrian intelligence service rests assured that Kurds and the US officers played a key role in evacuating ISIL’s Chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and seven of his close aids from his hideout in Iraq to a US-run base in Ra’as al-Ein and then to Rmeilan in Hasaka province in Northeastern Syria.

Al-Hadath further said that the Kurdish militants are likely to retreat from Eastern Syria in the new year, adding that the Syrian Army’s elite units are now prepared to take control of oil and gas fields on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River that the Kurds occupied with the US back up.

In went on to say that the Syrian Army plan to use an assault strategy similar to the Iraqi troops’ Kirkuk liberation operation.

According to the report, the Syrian Army Command plans to give the last ultimatum to the Kurds to deliver control of oil and gas fields to the government troops before waging the attack.
