Video- Battle for Sirt continues

On the horizon, lies one of the last bastions of Gaddafi rule: His Birthplace; where these revolutionaries call the nest of a tyrant.

The city is a key symbol in the progress of the Libyan revolution and the complete toppling of Gaddafi’s 42 year-old regime. However, they know the full capture of Sirt will not happen today since they can not enter the city.

The revolutionaries cannot gain ground into Sirt due to what they say are aggressive assaults coming from the city. They claim that most of the assaults are from mercenaries hired by Gaddafi. Revolutionary commanders say that these assaults are temporary obstacles.

Just recently the revolutionaries launched one of the biggest attacks on Sirt which resulted in capture of a large area of the city.

As the conflict in Sirt carries on, wounded revolutionaries are being brought to this make-shift hospital which is just 10 Kilometers outside the city.

Ambulances arrive here each minute, carrying one or two wounded revolutionaries.
The numbers here just show the extent of the conflict’s intensity.

Revolutionary commanders now believe that the biggest assault into the centre of Sirt will happen within the next couple of days. But that still remains to be seen.
