Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined Tehran’s support for national unity and independence of Yemen.
Iran supports independence and national unity in Yemen as it views Yemen’s security as the entire Middle-East region’s security, Amir Abdollahian told reporters in Tehran on Wednesday.

Noting that the recent developments in Yemen have improved security in the Middle-East, he said political changes in Sana’a have made conditions more difficult for the terrorists.

Amir Abdollahian also said that the decision by the United States and Britain to close their embassies in the Yemeni capital is a rushed but purposeful move.

“The move (embassy closures) is hasty and purposeful,” he added.

“Yemen belongs to all Yemenis and Ansarullah (movement) is taking steps with a view to helping the political process to yield results while at the same time fighting corruption and terrorism,” Amir Abdollahian said.

Fighters of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement gained control of the capital city of Sana’a in September 2014. The revolutionaries say the former government was incapable of establishing security and had permanently failed in managing the administrative affairs of the impoverished Arab country.

The US, UK and France are closing their embassies in Yemen due to what they called as the deteriorating security situation and political crisis in the country.

The US and UK governments have withdrawn diplomatic staff from Sana’a and urged their citizens to leave.

France’s embassy in the capital has announced that it will close on Friday.
